Chicken's weigh in

I don't know what the hell is going on here but I'm pissed. I gained .6 pounds!!! I feel like I am loosing weight but the scales say otherwise. Well the scale at weight watchers on Monday evenings. Ha Ha and I talked about it last night and we have a theory. Roughly two weeks ago I started eating pretzels as a snack. It might just be that I am eating too much salt. So I'm going to lay off the pretzels this week and see if there is a change. Of course there is no turning back with this so I will keep on trucking.

Well I didn't gain as much as I thought I did. I actually gained .8 pounds. It isn't good but it could be worse. The funny thing is when I woke up this morning it felt like I dropped 3 pounds. In any case I am back on track and I am going to the gym after work.

Sprite's weigh in

There doesn't seem to be any correlation between what I eat and what I lose. I lost 2.6 pounds this week, even though I ate too much, didn't eat my vegetables or my dairy and didn't exercise.

I'm happy about the numbers, but I think I would feel more satisfied if I could see exactly what I was doing to lose weight. As it is right now, it seems like mostly chance and coincidence.

Update on Chicken

I have a bad feeling about my weigh in. Williams Dad was in town and we ate out a lot. I tried to make good decisions but I think I ate too much. I didn't go to the gym at all. I'm feeling pretty disappointed with myself especially since I did so well the week before. I plan to turn it around this week. I will go to the gym at least 2 times this week and I will walk at work every day. I am going to get back on track with my food and blogging my points. I really hope I didn't gain back all of the weight I lost last week.

I had 9 bonus points left over, the least I have ever done. I am having a really hard time with the diet right now. We are SO busy and I keep waiting until I'm starving to get something to eat. I don't have the time or energy to cook and I'm really sick of the frozen dinners. I'm not expecting to have lost anything at weigh in on Monday. I just hope I haven't gained.

We are going off the program while we are at Burning Man. It's hard enough to get myself to eat anything in the heat and dust, much less trying to count points or restrict myself to "diet" food. I never intended to be on the program while I was there, so I don't feel guilty about it at all. My goal was always to lose as much as I could before Burning Man, and then get back on the program when I get back, even if I had to start over again.

I think that is part of what's giving me so much trouble now. I know I will be eating whatever I want in less than a week and I'm just too busy to give much thought to what I'm eating right now.

Gyms

Our gym membership at Gold's is going to expire in October. J wants to renew his portion and I would like to renew mine as well as long as it doesn't mean having us both sign up for another 2 years (we don't have that kind of time here). Problem for me is that I don't get over there often enough to make it worth the money (J goes there on his way home from work). Ideally I would like to go there more but I don't know that I will and I feel like I would be signing up just so I wouldn't be admitting defeat.

There is a gym that is within 1/2 a mile of my house that I think I would go to more, but I think it also costs more than Gold's. I need to go to talk to them because it would be awesome to have one so close...I could walk over there everyday and not feel like I was wasting gas...

Note: another underlying issue with me and Gold's gym is that I hate the contract stuff and it irritates me to no end that they can't just have people that want to pay each month do that instead of locking us in for 2 years. That is the number one reason I don't do cell phones too.

Sprite's weigh in

I was a bit disappointed in my weigh in - only 0.2 pounds lost. I was really hoping to hit 10 pounds this week and only needed 0.8 pounds to get it.

I ate pretty bad all weekend, so that pretty much negated my marathon bike riding on Sunday. I think that doing a lot of exercise also reduces your loss, right at the beginning. It sounded like several people were disappointed this week for the same reason.

Overall, I'm happy about my weight loss and am feeling better all the way around. I am dealing with some general fitness issues with my body and I'm feeling frustrated about a lot of things, not just the weight loss.

I was SOOOOO tempted to pig out on something on the way home from the WW meeting but I resisted. I stopped by Value Village for a little retail therapy instead. I was happy to fit in some smaller sized pants. They didn't look that good, but they FIT and that is an improvement.

Chicken's Weigh In

This week was much better than last week. I knew I lost weight but I expected the scale to say about 1/2 of what it did. I lost 3.8 pounds this week bringing my total to 12.6. I received a 5 pound star which I have placed on my 5 pound bookmark that is on the fridge. 2.4 pounds to go until my next star. Oh and I am over 1/2 way to my 10% target!!

Today was a day of highs and lows. On the good side, I rode in a 14-mile bike ride over six Portland bridges. There were times I had to walk instead of ride, but I did OK, all things considered with my back and neck and foot lately. On the bad side, I forgot to turn my alarm on and we overslept so we didn't have time to make breakfast and didn't have anything in the house to take. We ended up stopping by McDonalds. I was pretty hungry by the only rest stop and needed some fuel before the last big bridge and ate more cookies than I should have. We ate at the "Bite of Portland" and there were very few low-point choices. I'm not happy to use up bonus points on the first day of the counting week, but at least I got some decent activity points to offset it.

Couch to Running

Chicken found this cool link and passed it to me. I thought I would add it to our links on the sidebar but wanted to call attention to it here...I might try it out just to get more running in my plan.

In other news, I am still here, just have been very busy. A friend of mine who is pregnant just moved to the area and she can't do much around her house right now so I have been helping out until her husband gets back later this month. It has been a lot of fun seeing her and her family but I haven't gotten much stuff done around my house or on the computer...oh well, it will all come together I am sure. I have not been tracking my food this week, as she is Thai so you can imagine the great healthy food I have been consuming during my work....some work, huh?

Anyhow, I have not fallen off the earth, am just busy but I am reading and trying to be supportive. You guys are all doing so great, I just need to get some regular exercise (besides my twice weekly soccer gigs) into my routine...

A Little Frustration

William has lost 13 pounds. I gained .8 last week. I exercise and follow the plan. He has the occasional bad lunch and doesn't exercise as much as me. I'm really happy for him and I'm glad that he is eating better foods. I'm just frustrated.

Changing Things Up

I am changing things up a bit for myself...now that I feel I have an understanding of my portions and the balancing act, I am not going to be tracking calories everyday. I want to up my exercise to the point where I don't even have to worry about my food but until that day happens, I will continue to log my food (makes me more honest), and exercise, just won't be doing the calorie thing anymore.

Will try to get yesterday and today's stuff up later, when I have some more time...

Today was a bad food day. I went out to lunch with my office mates and didn't have a lot of choice for lunch. I tried to pick the least bad thing, but it ended up being full of noodles and not very filling.

Because it was so many points, I tried not to eat much in the afternoon to save points for dinner. By the time I got home, I was tired and my blood sugar was in the basement. We didn't have much to cook and I didn't want another frozen dinner. The only thing that sounded good and was fast enough was fast food. I guess I didn't do too bad, all things considered.

But that issue of coming home starving and not having the energy to cook comes up fairly often. I could have a snack, but I feel like I'm wasting precious points just to make it another hour before eating.

Chicken's Weigh In

Well as I expected I gained weight with an increase of .8lbs. Our WW leader thinks it is because I have been exercising more. She wants me to drink more water. I've been drinking a ton of water but I guess with the working out & sweating (it is hot outside) I should drink more. I'm bummed that I didn't hit my 10 lb loss but there is no turning back so I just have to try harder and move forward.

Weigh in

It was a pretty good weigh in - 1.8 pounds lost this past week, with a total of 9.2 pounds. I was pretty sure I was down a bit. I tried on the "magic" jeans. They're still pretty snug, but I could get them on and zipped which is a big improvement. I'm doing pretty well with my point allotment for the most part. There are times when I feel really deprived, but that is getting less as the weight is coming off.

Seductive pie

On a similar note, there is a piece of homemade peach pie sitting next to me, courtesy of a co-worker. It smells soooooo good, but I'm not going to eat any of it until I can figure out how many points it is so I know how much I can reasonably eat.

Can't people be nurturing in a non-food way? Why is it that in our society, giving piles of baked goods is a sign of affection and caring? I guess hugs or gifts are too personal for someplace like the workplace. I'd really rather have a smile!

Update: it turns out that I really didn't like the crust, so the pie was not really tempting at all. I ate the peach filling and threw away the rest. I hope she doesn't ask if I liked it :P

Evil Office People

Arrrggggg!! Someone made homemade white chocolate sugar cookies and brought them into work. Someone else brought mini chocolate eclairs. When I went into the kitchen just now another box of cookies with frosting and sprinkles was added to the lot. Bastards!

I'll have you know that I haven't and will not touch a one.

I only lost 0.6 pounds last week, which is pretty disappointing. Maybe hoarding my bonus points and eating more on the weekend is not good, when I weigh in on Monday. Overall, I'm still feeling good about the program. I think I've adjusted to the lower point allotment and am definitely eating healthier and have more energy. I suppose that is more important than the number on the scale anyway.
